EN 360:2023
New markings and updates to NEOFEU retractable type fall arresters (2/2)
In our previous article, we explained the key points of the new EN 360:2023 standard and its impact on retractable type fall arresters.
In this second part, we focus on what is changing at NEOFEU.
New markings, clearer pictograms, updated references, more detailed specifications… the objective is simple: to help users and distributors identify the right retractable type fall arrester more easily according to the work situation.
At NEOFEU, this transition is accompanied by progressive updates to our retractable type fall arresters, their markings, instructions for use and certain product references.
Markings designed to be easier to read in the work situation
With the transition to EN 360:2023, the marking of retractable type fall arresters is becoming more comprehensive.
This is not simply a matter of adding a new standard reference to the label. The marking must make it easier to understand the main information relating to the use of the product at a glance.
On the products concerned, users will notably find:
- The product reference;
- The serial number / manufacturing batch;
- The applicable standard;
- The date of manufacture;
- The cable or webbing length;
- The weight of the fall arrester (if >15 kg);
- The pictograms of use;
- A QR code providing access to the instructions for use.
This update makes the product easier to read at a glance, but does not replace the instructions for use.
The marking provides initial information. The instructions for use remain the reference document for the exact conditions of use.

Understanding NEOFEU pictograms

Before each use, check the overall condition of the fall arrester: casing, lanyard, connector, fall indicator, marking and inspection date. If in doubt, the product must not be used.

Before each use, pull sharply on the lanyard to check that the fall arrester locks correctly. The lanyard must then unwind and retract normally when pulled slowly.
During retraction, never release the lanyard or connector abruptly: guide it back until it is fully retracted.

The indicated weight corresponds to the user including clothing, tools and equipment. For the models concerned in this range, the weight range is specified from 50 to 140 kg for the equipped user.

The retractable type fall arrester must be connected to a suitable anchor point. The anchor point, connectors and associated components must be compatible with the fall arrest system.

To limit the pendulum effect, the user must remain as close as possible to the vertical line below the anchor point and must never exceed an angle of 30° from the vertical of the anchor.
In the event of a lateral offset, the fall trajectory becomes pendular: this increases the risk of striking an obstacle and increases the required clearance.
The clearance to be taken into account is therefore the specified vertical clearance, plus the additional distance related to the pendulum effect as specified in the instructions for use.

This pictogram indicates that the product has been tested for horizontal use, under the conditions specified in the user manual. This use must always take into account the clearance, any potential edge and the pendulum effect.

The product must not be used in a horizontal configuration. It must be used only under the vertical conditions.

This pictogram indicates that the product may be used in a configuration with the anchor point at foot level, under the conditions defined by the standard. This use has an impact on the required clearance.

This pictogram indicates that the product may be used with the fall arrester casing connected on the user side, under the conditions specified in the instructions for use. This reverse position must be clearly authorised by the manufacturer.

The product must not be used as part of a double fall arrest system if this configuration is not specified. For double progression, use a product specifically designed and certified for this type of use.
Refer to the instructions for use dedicated to these devices for all this information.
Updates to the NEOFEU range
The transition to EN 360:2023 is accompanied by an update to our range of retractable type fall arresters.
The objective is to provide a clearer understanding according to the possible uses.
To support this transition and make it easier to choose the right equipment, NEOFEU has structured its offer around two distinct ranges. This separation provides a clearer understanding of the authorised uses and helps both users and distributors quickly identify the product best suited to each situation.
The VERTIG’O range includes retractable type fall arresters intended for standard use in vertical configuration.
The EDGE range is dedicated to vertical and horizontal use, particularly where the working environment involves a risk of falling over a sharp edge.
